How to Share a Favorites Collection with a Student

A Favorites collection can be shared as a plain Markdown file. The teacher exports the collection that is active in Playphrase.me, and the student imports the file into a chosen collection. The imported phrases are added to anything already saved there; duplicates are skipped.

Before either action, check which collection is selected. Export and Import both operate only on the active collection.

Choose the collection dot first

Above the Favorites list, Collections: is followed by a row of dots. Each dot is a separate, unnamed collection slot. The highlighted dot is the active one.

As long as another collection can be created, Playphrase.me keeps one empty dot at the end of the row. The row can hold no more than five collection slots in total.

Export only the set you mean to share

Select the filled collection and choose Export. Playphrase.me downloads a Markdown file containing only the phrases from that active collection. Phrases from the other dots are not included.

Each favorite is stored as a Markdown heading that begins with #:

# Can you please call me back?

# What do you want for dinner tonight?

Each recognized heading represents one Favorites entry.

Import into the intended collection

The student should select the destination collection before choosing Import. To keep class material separate from personal saves, use an empty dot.

Playphrase.me appends the recognized headings to the selected collection; it does not replace the phrases already there. Repeated headings are deduplicated, and phrases already in the collection are skipped.

A processing dialog stays visible while the file is being read and imported. When the import finishes, the dialog reports what was added and what was already present.

Listen without typing the phrases again

Close the result dialog and remain in the same collection. The imported phrases now appear in Favorites. Open the first one, listen to its examples, and move on to the next without rebuilding the searches by hand.

The Markdown file carries the phrase text. After import, Playphrase.me uses that text to find the clips again in its catalog.
